Fishing in Viborg

These are the central lakes of Viborg that are separated by the road bridge.

This is a very picturesque small town centred on 2 large expanses of water.

The first area I have knowledge about is on the top lake.

Go over the road bridge from the town and take a immediateleft turn down the side of the lake. Park just before the road leaves the lakeside or anywhere prior to this point.

In recent years there has been little angling activity in this area.

It is worth the effort to clear a peg as the fishing can be exceptional. Casting a feeder 40 yards into 3 - 4 meters of water will see you catch plenty of Roach and Bream.

It is a fact here that the harder the wind blows the more Bream you tend to catch.

Pre-bating is recommended if there has been no angling activity.

It tends to be shallower and weedier the closer to the town bridge you fish.

I have seen some very large weights of big Bream from quite a few pegs in this area. It is worth putting in the effort as the rewards can be huge.

An early start is highly recommended.

From the road bridge towards the town go left at the junction and left at the first roundabout. Continue onto road 'Sonders0parken' which runs next to the lake and park at side of lake.

This area used to see lots of matches in years gone by with some very large weights coming from numerous pegs. Today the area is hardly fished but looks very inviting. A number of Dutch anglers have fished the area and reported large bags of Roach and Skimmers.

I am sure some pre-baiting would see the larger Bream arrive if you put in the effort. This area is comfortable fishing from grass banks. (No reeds here).

I have also heard about fishing on the opposite bank next to a campsite area. I have not explored this further so cannot comment on it. If anybody can provide details it would be appreciated along with other areas that are of note?
