SIlkeborg Island fishing
Silkeborg Island Fishing Information
This length is to the East of Silkeborg on the 15 road towards Aarhus. Take a left just prior to going over the river Guden and park at the bottom of the Hill directly next to the Bridge. To fish the other bank, go over the bridge and take a left at the lights. Immediately take the first left again and park just before the trees. Walk directly down the track and fish to your left and right.

This stretch is heavily dependant on the water levels. In recent years duringJuly & August it has been unfishable. Try April, May and June before the weed growth starts to halt the flow and the levels rise.

The River Guden has large numbers of invasive European Zebra Mussels which started to appear around 2004. (From what we were told by a local angling shop) - the Mussels make the water very clear. This has the effect of more sunlight penetrating deeper into the lake and weed growth dramatically increasing. This extra weed growth stops the flow of water through the lakes and causes the levels to rise dramatically by well over a meter in some cases. This makes the whole river system unfishable.
If anybody has a better understanding of this problem and its affects I would appreciate a detailed explanation?

Top pegs on map above;
This is a fantastic stretch offering river and lake fishing. Fish a stick float in the first 2 - 3 pegs that are well cut out for lots of Roach and some Bream early in the season. The last peg on the river before it opens in to the lake offers fantastic Roach and bream fishing. Fish here in May for lots of Bream on the pole to hand and to the slack on the far bank reeds.
Walk further down where the lake opens out for some idyllic fishing into open water. Large shoals of Bream reside here and very big weights can be on the cards.

Walk a further distance and the lake shallows prior to going into the river once again. Here there is some fantastic Roach fishing.

Once it changes back to a River again there is some very good Roach fishing and Bream from far bank slacks.
There are some long walks to the good pegs here.

Bottom pegs on map above.
Here there is a very short walk. There is only room for 4 -5 anglers. Fish immediately at the bottom of the track if water levels allow for some very good Roach and Bream fishing on the pole, Waggler and feeder.

There is some good accommodation in this area for anglers directly next to the lakes.
