Denmark Overview
Denmark is a fantastic angling destination. It has a very diverse and rich lake and river system. The main area for coarse fishing is the Danish Lakeland. The Lakeland is situated in the centre of the main island with the town of Silkeborg at its heart. Less than Thirty minutes to the North is the town of Viborg and less than 30 minutes to the South is the town of Skanderborg.
The River Guden is at the heart of the Lakeland flowing through most of the lakes in and around Silkeborg. Vast shoals of Roach and Bream abound in the lakes and river sections of the Guden along with specimen Rudd and Ide.

Getting to Denmark From the UK.
At the time of writing there is no ferry from Harwich to Esbjerg. There are plans for a company called Regina Line to re-open this route. For more information and to watch for updates on this see the link here.
The Best way currently to travel from the UK to Denmark is via a ferry from Hull to Rotterdam and a 8 - 10 hour drive up to the Danish Lakeland. The Ferry is an overnight journey departing around 20:30 which gives plenty of time to relax and have a drink arriving at 08:00. A steady drive means arriving at your destination around 17:00. Return ferry from Rotterdam departs daily at 21:00 and arives at 08:00.

The weather in Denmark is usually quite sunny in July and August. Like the UK though this is not always the case. April, May, June and September can be quite unsettled. Winter fishing can be quite productive due to milder winters than old.

There are lots of stories that go around of huge amounts of Bream been taken from the lakes for fertilizer each year. The facts are that around 8 years ago there was a program to remove lots of stunted bream from the lakes. This allowed big shaols of quality Bream to thrive with lots of smaller 3 - 5 lb Bream as backup with lots of smaller skimmers.
There is still a program of occasional netting at Viborg but this does not really affect the fishing.
